As people working in the health sector in Switzerland, we can no longer remain silent.
As people working in the health sector in Switzerland, we can no longer remain silent in the face of the constant attacks on the health sector in Gaza and the genocide taking place before our eyes.
The Government of Switzerland should do everything in its power to ensure that the Geneva Convention is respected: The wounded, the sick, medical personnel, ambulances and hospitals (or other medical facilities) must be protected.
Humanitarian aid must be allowed into Gaza immediately to prevent tens of thousands of people from starving to death, and the potential of a whole generation of children to be wiped out.
Words are not enough to stop the genocide taking place before our eyes - action is needed. By failing to act, Switzerland is complicit.
We refer to the following Geneva Conventions:
• Geneva Convention IV (1949): Protection of civilian persons in war (Article 16, 17 und 19)
• Additional protocol I (1977): International armed conflicts (Article 12, 13 und 54)
• Geneva Convention I (Wounded and sick on the battlefield): Article 19
