Become a tutor for a student in Gaza

Watching the genocide in Gaza right in front of your eyes and not being able to do something to stop it can cause a deep sense of hopelessness and despair. However, the best way to bear the unbearable is to act.
Here is a great way to do just that. Become a tutor and directly support a student in Gaza (financially, as a professional adviser, or both) and hereby help rebuild their healthcare system.
To give the students some stability in a very unstable, extremely stressful situation, the minimum duration of commitment is six months. If you agree to be a professional adviser, you will spend about two hours per week with the student.
Tutoring as a professional adviser
Tutoring as a professional adviser may be about:
- Sharing your knowledge of medical education, clinical training, and healthcare systems in Switzerland and internationally.
- Supporting applications to academic programmes, scholarships, internships, observerships, and other educational opportunities abroad.
- Introducing students to professional networks and facilitating connections with colleagues or institutions whenever appropriate.
- Providing encouragement, practical advice, and long-term professional mentorship throughout the student's educational journey.
- Giving emotional support in an extremely stressful and strenuous situation.
To have a tutor means, for the students, not only financial help but, just as crucial, the knowledge that they are not forgotten. As Khouloud, a student now living in Switzerland, explained: “The meetings with my tutor gave me hope and some sanity in the middle of the ongoing genocide.”

How to take part
If you are interested, please contact Alama by email at info@alama.ch, and they will discuss the options with you and give you more information about the students.
Financial contributions are tax-deductible in Switzerland and will be sent to Alama, which pays tuition fees directly to universities' financial departments.
Every kind of support is highly appreciated. Alama is also looking for volunteers to help with the program.
